How often should you have your chimney swept?

Once a year.

Best month: August (Northern Hemisphere)

Only some homes need this one. It is optional on the checklist and starts switched off in the tracker.

How to do it

Have a certified chimney sweep inspect the chimney and flue every year, and sweep it when the inspection finds creosote or blockage.

Why it matters

Creosote buildup is the main cause of chimney fires.

Recommended interval: once a year, per Chimney Safety Institute of America (citing NFPA 211).
