How often should you clean your dryer vent?

How to do it

Disconnect the duct behind the dryer and clean it end to end with a vent brush kit, including the outside flap.

Why it matters

Failing to clean the dryer is the leading cause of home dryer fires, and lint in the vent makes every load take longer.

Recommended interval: once a year, per National Fire Protection Association.
