How often should you test GFCI outlets?

Every month.

How to do it

Press TEST on each GFCI outlet in the kitchen, bathrooms, garage and outside. The power should cut. Press RESET to restore it.

Why it matters

GFCIs protect against shocks near water, and they can fail without any sign.

Recommended interval: every month, per U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
