How often should you clean your gutters?

Every 6 months (twice a year).

Best months: May and November (Northern Hemisphere)

How to do it

Scoop out leaves and debris, then run a hose down each downspout to check it drains. Do it again after the leaves fall.

Why it matters

Blocked gutters overflow against the foundation and rot the fascia boards.

Recommended interval: every 6 months, per West Virginia University Extension.
