When should you winterize outdoor faucets?

Once a year.

Best month: October (Northern Hemisphere)

Only some homes need this one. It is optional on the checklist and starts switched off in the tracker.

How to do it

Disconnect hoses, shut the indoor valve to each outdoor faucet if it has one, and open the faucet to drain it. Only needed where it freezes.

Why it matters

Water left in the pipe freezes, splits it, and floods the wall when it thaws.

Recommended interval: once a year, per University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.
