How often should you add salt to a water softener?

Every month.

Only some homes need this one. It is optional on the checklist and starts switched off in the tracker.

How to do it

Lift the brine tank lid once a month. Top up the salt when it is below about half full, and break up any crust.

Why it matters

Without salt the softener runs but stops softening, and scale builds up in pipes and appliances.

Recommended interval: every month, per Culligan.
