How often should you inspect washing machine hoses?

Once a year.

How to do it

Pull the machine out and check the hoses for bulges, cracks and rust at the fittings. Replace rubber hoses every 5 years, or fit braided steel ones.

Why it matters

A burst washer hose can release hundreds of gallons an hour.

Recommended interval: once a year, per Whirlpool.
